Practical WiFi Tools and Usage

Fifteen years after the introduction of the Airport Base Station, terrible WiFi remains unsurprising if not expected. Design and implementation problems, outdated and overloaded equipment, and a host of environmental factors contribute to terrible user experiences and cynicism, with Apple administrators often unable to do much to help because a mysterious network team runs the WiFi from an undisclosed location far away from the network's most demanding users.

In this talk, we will provide an introduction to the tools available (and unavailable) in the Apple ecosystem to help administrators survey, analyze, design, and troubleshoot, and demystify WiFi. The presentation will include real-world demos, scenario walkthroughs, and before and after comparisons demonstrating how the available tools can be deployed to render your WiFi reliably invisible rather than visibly unreliable.
